About 8 FT containers
An 8 FT container gives you roughly 64 square feet of secure, weather-resistant floor space in a footprint not much larger than a garden shed. Because these units are produced by cutting down and re-ending longer containers, the door arrangement is often a flat, easier-to-open configuration rather than original cargo doors, which matters when the unit is squeezed against a wall or fence.
Buyers usually choose this size for one of two reasons: the placement area cannot take anything longer, or the contents are high-value but low-volume and a full 20 FT box would simply be wasted space.

Buying considerations
Before you order a 8 FT unit
- Confirm the door type before ordering. Cut-down units frequently use flat doors with a single locking bar rather than original double cargo doors.
- Check that the delivery vehicle can still reach the placement point. A smaller container does not always mean easier delivery.
- Allow clearance in front of the doors so they can swing fully open once the unit is positioned.
- Consider a 10 FT unit if the price difference is small and the footprint allows it, since the extra capacity is usually worth having.

Is an 8 FT container an original factory size?
No. The common ISO lengths are 10, 20, 30 and 40 feet. Eight-foot units are produced by cutting down and re-ending a longer container, which is why door configurations vary and why many are supplied refurbished and repainted.
How much can I fit in one?
Roughly 64 square feet of floor space, or about the volume of a small single-car garage bay minus the parking. In practice that is a rack of tooling, a few pallets stacked carefully, or a substantial amount of grounds equipment.
Is it as secure as a larger container?
The construction is the same Cor-Ten steel and the locking hardware is comparable. Security comes mainly from placement, the lockbox and the padlock you fit, rather than from the length of the unit.
