Double Door & Tunnel Containers
Containers with cargo doors at both ends, or split door configurations, for access from either side and easier organisation of the interior.
About double door & tunnel containers
A tunnel container has full cargo doors at both ends. A double-door or S2 configuration splits the opening differently again. Either way, the result is the same practical benefit: you are no longer forced to unload the front of the container to reach the back.
These configurations also make it straightforward to divide the interior into two separate lockable spaces, which is useful where two trades, two departments or two sites share one unit. On a 40 FT tunnel container, that effectively gives you two 20 FT stores that can be accessed independently.

Buying considerations
What to check before ordering
- Allow door swing clearance at both ends when you plan the placement position.
- Check the locking arrangement, as some configurations have lockboxes on both door sets and some do not.
- Confirm whether the unit has original cargo doors at both ends or a converted arrangement at one.
- Remember that more doors means more seals to maintain over the life of the container.
Questions
Frequently asked
What is a tunnel container?
A container with full cargo doors at both ends. It is sometimes called a double-ended or tunnel-tainer, and it allows access or loading from either end.
Is a tunnel container weaker than a standard one?
It is built as a tunnel rather than converted, so the frame is designed for the configuration. As with any container, structural condition and door alignment matter more than the door count.
What does S2 mean?
It refers to a split door arrangement rather than a single pair of cargo doors, giving two separately accessible sections. The product page describes the exact configuration.
