Open Side Containers
Full-length side opening and side-door configurations that give access along the length of the container rather than through one end.
About open side containers
An open side container has doors along one full side, usually opening 180 or 270 degrees, sometimes with a central supporting post. Instead of reaching into a long tunnel from one end, you can access any part of the floor directly. For anything that is loaded and unloaded regularly, that changes the container from a storage box into a working space.
Open side units are heavier and more complex than a standard container, and they usually carry a price premium. They are worth it where retrieval time matters: parts stores, plant hire, event equipment, retail conversions and any operation where the contents are not simply left in place for months.

Buying considerations
What to check before ordering
- Allow clearance along the full length of the opening side, not just at the door end.
- Check whether the unit has a central post, as this affects what can be loaded in one piece.
- Confirm the door swing, since 270-degree doors need more space than 180-degree doors.
- Expect a heavier unit. Ground preparation and offload requirements can differ from a standard container.
Questions
Frequently asked
What is the difference between open side and side door?
Terminology varies. Open side usually means the entire side opens; a side door unit may have one or more door sets along the side rather than a full-length opening. The product page describes the actual configuration.
Are open side containers still watertight?
Yes, when the doors are correctly sealed and closed. There are more seals than on a standard container, so the door gear and rubbers deserve regular attention.
