Returns, Refunds & Cancellations

A development returns policy based on a 14-day window from delivery, with clear conditions for cancellation, return transportation, restocking and exclusions.

Eligibility

To be eligible for return, a container must be unmodified, undamaged beyond its condition at delivery, free of contents, and in the same condition as when it was delivered. Returns are assessed against the condition class the product was sold under, so a used container is not judged against the standard of a one trip unit.

14-day return period

Return requests must be raised within 14 days of delivery. After that period the sale is treated as final, other than any rights you have under warranty or applicable law. Raising a request within the window does not require you to have returned the unit by that date; it requires you to have contacted us and obtained a return authorisation.

Cancellation before shipment

Orders can be cancelled at any time before the unit is dispatched, and a full refund is issued to the original payment method. Contact support with your order number as early as possible. Because processing generally begins within one business day, early contact makes cancellation simpler.

Cancellation after shipment

Once a container has been dispatched, cancellation is treated as a return. The unit must be received back and inspected before a refund is issued, and outbound and return transportation costs may be deducted. Refusing delivery does not avoid these costs.

Return authorisation

All returns require prior authorisation. Contact support with your order number, the delivery date, the reason for return and photographs of the unit in its current position. You will be issued a return authorisation reference and instructions. Units returned without authorisation cannot be processed and may be refused.

Return transportation

Containers are not parcels. Return transportation must be arranged through us or through a carrier we approve, using equipment suitable for the unit. Where a return is due to our error, a damaged delivery or an incorrect product, we arrange and pay for collection. Where a return is a change of mind, return transportation is chargeable and is deducted from the refund.

The container must be empty, accessible and in a position from which it can be lifted or loaded. If a failed collection occurs because the unit is inaccessible or still loaded, the cost of the attempt may be deducted.

Restocking

A restocking charge may apply to change-of-mind returns to cover inspection, reconditioning and re-listing. Where a restocking charge applies, the amount is confirmed in writing at the point of return authorisation, before you commit to the return.

Refunds

Refunds are issued to the original payment method once the returned unit has been received and inspected. Inspection confirms that the container matches the condition it was delivered in, allowing for reasonable handling. Any deductions for transportation, restocking or damage are itemised.

Refund processing normally begins within a small number of business days of inspection being completed. The time for funds to appear depends on your payment provider and is outside our control.

Damaged products

If a container arrives damaged in transit, this is handled as a transit damage claim rather than a return. Photograph the damage, note it on the delivery paperwork before signing, keep the documentation and contact support promptly. The process is set out on the shipping page. Where a unit is not fit for the purpose it was sold for, we will repair, replace or refund it.

Incorrect products

If you receive a container that does not match what you ordered, contact support immediately and do not begin using it. We arrange collection and either supply the correct unit or issue a full refund, including all transportation costs. You are not charged for our error.

Used, refurbished and cosmetic condition

Used and refurbished containers are sold with the cosmetic characteristics described on their product page: dents, surface rust, mismatched paint and floor wear are normal for these grades and are not defects. Returns on the basis that a used container looks used cannot be accepted. Structural faults, water ingress or doors that will not seal are a different matter entirely and should be reported.

Modified products

Containers that have been modified after delivery cannot be returned. Modification includes cutting, welding, drilling, painting, fitting doors or windows, installing electrics or lining, and any alteration to the structure. If you intend to modify a container, satisfy yourself that it is correct before work begins.

Custom and special-order products

Units built, converted or painted to your specification are non-returnable except where they are faulty or do not match the agreed specification. This includes containers repainted to a chosen colour, cut-down units made to a specified length and any bespoke conversion. Where a product is non-returnable, that is stated before you order.

Customer responsibilities

You are responsible for emptying the container completely, removing anything fixed to it, ensuring it is accessible for collection, and providing accurate information about the site. You are also responsible for the container between delivery and collection, including securing it against weather and unauthorised access.

Exceptions

Returns cannot be accepted for containers that have been modified, containers that have sustained damage after delivery, custom and special-order units, units returned without authorisation, and requests raised outside the 14-day window. Nothing in this policy limits any rights you have under applicable consumer law.

Return FAQ

Common questions about returns

How long do I have to return a container?

Return requests must be raised within 14 days of delivery under this development policy. Contact support within that window to obtain a return authorisation.

Can I cancel before it ships?

Yes. Cancellation before dispatch is straightforward and a full refund is issued to the original payment method. Contact support with your order number as soon as possible.

Who pays for return transport?

Where the return is due to our error, a damaged delivery or an incorrect product, we arrange and pay for collection. Change-of-mind returns are chargeable and the cost is deducted from the refund.

Is there a restocking charge?

A restocking charge may apply to change-of-mind returns. Where it applies, the amount is confirmed in writing at the point of return authorisation before you commit.

Can I return a used container because it has dents?

No. Used and refurbished containers are sold with the cosmetic characteristics described on the product page. Structural faults, water ingress or doors that will not seal are a different matter and should be reported immediately.

Can I return a container I have painted or modified?

No. Any modification, including painting, cutting, drilling, welding or fitting doors, windows, lining or electrics, ends the right of return.

What if the container is faulty rather than unwanted?

Contact support. Faults are handled under transit damage or warranty rather than as a change-of-mind return, and the resolution may be repair, replacement or refund.

How long does a refund take?

Refund processing normally begins within a small number of business days of the returned unit being inspected. How quickly funds appear then depends on your payment provider.

Can I refuse delivery instead of returning it?

Refusing delivery is treated as a return after dispatch. Outbound and return transportation costs may still be deducted, so it is rarely the cheaper option. Contact support instead.

Do I get a refund if I ordered the wrong size?

A change-of-mind return within the 14-day window is possible subject to transportation and any restocking charge. Using the container finder or contacting us before ordering avoids the situation entirely.

Still not sure?

Talk to us before you order

If you are uncertain about size, condition, access or configuration, a short conversation beforehand is a great deal easier than a return afterwards.
